About

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, located in North Vancouver, is a popular tourist attraction renowned for its iconic suspension bridge stretching 137 meters (450 feet) across and 70 meters (230 feet) above the Capilano River. Originally built in 1889 by George Grant Mackay, a Scottish civil engineer and land developer, the bridge has been rebuilt and reinforced over the years to ensure visitor safety. Beyond the thrilling walk across the swaying bridge, the park offers a rich experience immersed in the natural beauty of British Columbia's rainforest.

Visitors can explore the Treetops Adventure, a series of seven suspension bridges high in the canopy of towering Douglas fir trees, offering a unique perspective of the forest ecosystem. The Cliffwalk provides a breathtaking (and sometimes nerve-wracking) stroll along a cantilevered walkway jutting out from a granite cliff face above the river. The park also features serene nature trails winding through lush rainforest, providing opportunities to learn about local flora and fauna. Cultural experiences include learning about the history and traditions of the Coast Salish people through interpretive displays and storytelling. Seasonal events and the captivating Raptor's Ridge bird of prey demonstrations add further layers to the visitor experience.

Go early or late: To avoid peak crowds, especially during summer, aim to arrive when the park opens or later in the afternoon.

Wear comfortable shoes: You'll be doing a fair amount of walking on uneven terrain and stairs.

Dress in layers: The rainforest can be unpredictable. Layers allow you to adjust to changing temperatures and potential rain.

Take your time on the bridge: Enjoy the views and the unique sensation of walking across the suspension bridge. Don't rush!

Explore beyond the bridge: Make sure to experience Treetops Adventure and the Cliffwalk for different perspectives.

Check the schedule for shows: The Raptor's Ridge demonstrations are fascinating and worth catching.

Bring your camera: The park offers numerous photo opportunities of stunning natural scenery.

Consider purchasing tickets online: This can save you time upon arrival, especially during busy periods.

Look for wildlife: Keep an eye out for local birds and other small creatures as you explore the trails.
