School breaks can be hard to fill, and a Pro-D day often arrives with little notice. Code Ninjas Vancouver East has a run of camps from late October through spring break that gets kids building their own games, worlds, and websites instead of just playing them.

Camps run for kids ages 5 to 14, with some advanced game development camps recommended for older kids. This guide covers every upcoming camp at Vancouver East, what kids learn in each, why camps are a good way into coding and robotics, and what they cost.

Pro-D Day Camps

Pro-D days are a good way to try a camp without committing a full week. Both of these run as full days, 9:00 am to 2:45 pm.

Minecraft Redstone Realm (October 23)

Built for kids ages 8 and up who already know Minecraft well. Redstone is the game’s engineering system, and campers learn to use it to automate things like farming, mining, and even flight simulation. It’s a hands-on introduction to automation and systems thinking, taught through a game they already love.

Roblox World Creators (November 20)

This one welcomes both newcomers and experienced players. Kids learn to program and design inside Roblox, moving from playing in other people’s worlds to building their own.

Unreal Engine: Projectile VFX (October 25)

A one-day dive into Unreal Engine 5, the professional game engine behind many major titles. Kids learn how to create projectile visual effects, a core part of how modern games look and feel.

Winter Break Camps

Winter break has two four-day weeks of half-day camps. Morning and afternoon camps can be paired for a full day in the week of December 21.

Winter World Building in Minecraft & Roblox (December 21 to 24, mornings)

Minecraft and Roblox come together in a winter theme. Campers start in MCreator, designing festive weapons and coding magical enchantments for Minecraft. They then move into Roblox Studio to build snow forts, icy escape rooms, and their own wintry adventures. It’s designed for beginners and experts alike, with a recommended age of 8 and up.

Unreal Engine 3D Game Development (December 21 to 24, afternoons)

For kids ages 10 and up who want to build games the way studios do. Using Unreal Engine’s Blueprint visual scripting, campers learn the programming concepts behind C++ while creating gameplay mechanics, customizing materials and textures, building a combat system, programming weapons with special abilities, and adding animation and cutscenes. By Friday, or in this case Thursday, every camper has a playable 3D game level of their own.

Dashing Through the Code: Snow Games (December 28 to 31, mornings)

A good first camp for younger or newer coders. Kids start with the basics, then build three winter-inspired games from starter templates.

Spring Break Camp

HTML & CSS Web Development (March 15 to 19, mornings)

Kids get a foundation in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and learn how the three work together to make a website. It’s a practical step for kids curious about how the sites and apps they use every day are made.

Why Camps Are a Great Way to Start

Kids build instead of consume. Each camp is organized around making something: a mod, a world, a game level, or a website.

Familiar themes make learning easy. Minecraft, Roblox, and Unreal Engine are the tools and platforms kids already know or want to try. They stay engaged because the project matters to them.

Real tools, real skills. Campers work in MCreator, Roblox Studio, and Unreal Engine 5, along with core ideas like automation, visual scripting, and debugging. These carry over into school and later learning.

Short formats lower the barrier. One-day Pro-D camps and four-day winter camps are an easy way to test a new interest.

Small-group, guided learning. Instructors, called Code Senseis, help each child at their own level, so beginners and experienced players can share a room.

Skills that carry over. Coding teaches breaking a problem into steps, testing ideas, and fixing what doesn’t work, which builds logic, resilience, and confidence.

How to Choose the Right Camp

  • Match the camp to what they already play. A Minecraft fan will love Redstone Realm or Winter World Building, while a Roblox fan will enjoy World Creators.
  • Check the recommended age. Redstone Realm and Winter World Building are for ages 8 and up, and Unreal Engine 3D Game Development is for ages 10 and up.
  • Start small if you’re unsure. A Pro-D day camp is a one-day trial, and Snow Games begins with the basics.
  • Pair morning and afternoon camps. In the week of December 21, one camp in each half of the day makes a full day.
  • Book early. Popular winter weeks tend to fill up.
  • Try a free session first. Kids build a game with a Sensei, and you see the dojo and ask questions.
